A Visual Legacy

McFarland once stated that “A photograph is seldom like a flower, complete and finished in itself.” By creating glass lantern slides, McFarland gave photographs a life beyond themselves as he used them to share his knowledge of plants, express his love for nature, and advocate for the civic value of parks and gardens.
